Ipaf and Book Prize Winners to Attend the Sharjah International Book Fair 2022

Geetanjali Shree, winner of the International Booker Prize, Mohammed Alnaas, author of Quantum Healing, Deepak Chopra, and Big Nate cartoonist Lincoln Peirce are just a few of the well-known authors scheduled to attend the Sharjah International Book Fair.

The 41st annual event will be held at the Expo Centre Sharjah from November 2 until November 13. The Sharjah Book Authority announced it at the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park on Wednesday. It will be held under the theme "Spread the Word."

The fair will feature more than 120 cultural figures, including Mohammed Al-Ash'ari, a poet from Morocco and a former minister of culture and communication, as well as Ahmed Mourad, an author from Egypt, and writers Sultan Al Amimi, Khulood Al Mualla, Ibrahim Al Hashemi, and Asma Al Hammadi from the Emirati nation.

More than 2,000 publishers are expected to attend from 95 different countries. Cuba, Costa Rica, Liberia, the Philippines, Ireland, Malta, Mali, Jamaica, Iceland, and Hungary are among the nations that will be attending the expo for the first time.

The UAE tops the list of Arab publishers with 339 participating publishing houses, followed by Egypt with 306 participants, Lebanon with 125 publishers, and Syria with 95 publishers. On a global scale, 112 publishers from India will be present, while 61 publishers from the UK will be there.

Initially, there were just a few hundred publishers and attendees at the book show. As it welcomes 2,213 publishers today, it is hosting the most publishers in its history. The SIBF was acknowledged as the biggest book fair in the world in terms of trading intellectual property rights the previous year.

This year's honoree will be Italy, which will have a busy schedule that gives guests a glimpse into the influence and cultural prowess of the European country. As part of the celebration, several events have been integrated into the schedule, including a cooking area, kid-friendly activities, and stage productions of Aterballetto: A Poetry Abstraction and Balletto Di Roma.

Between October 30 and November 1, the expo will host the Publishers Conference. The three-day conference will discuss problems and obstacles the publishing industry faces, the prospects for digital publishing in the Arab world, and developing markets for the promotion of audiobooks. In accordance with the platform, New York University will work with over 230 Arab publishers to provide specialized training that focuses on global publishing standards and practices.

Alongside the expo, from November 8 to 10, the ninth Sharjah International Library Conference will be conducted in partnership with the American Library Association. An international group of professionals and librarians from different libraries in the US and other nations will attend the event.
